I am the new owner of a hd5. Have ran for about 30 hours. All of a sudden am getting oil in radiator. Could it be a blown head gasket? or maybe a gasket in oil cooler. No experience with hd5 but, been own farm mechanic forever. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks much, Leon

Leon, I would pull the oil cooler core out and pressure check it to begin with, this is located in the front of the block on the 2-71. We usually test them at 80 psi air pressure, sumerged in hot water. There is A slight chance it could be the head gasket, however , usually the oil cooler is the problem in the older engines.

I believe this topic came up previously. You might work your way back through the pages of this site. I think someone mentioned a seal problem with the GM diesel in the HD5's. You might also try the AC website of Yesterday's Tractors.
