Have a 1951 340 Utility Tractor. This is the
first year I have had a chance to use the
snow plow which runs off the hydralics. It has a ten gallon capacity and it is full. My problem is just doesn't work. I
thought maybe there must be ice in the lines
somewhere. But I am using really good fluid.
Any suggestions??

Big M,
Even with premium fluid, water can accumulate in the system due to condensation. If you can get it into a warm place (at least above freezing) you could drain the system and get the water out. This assumes that water is the problem. If there is no water, sounds like a valve or orfice is plugged, and real work will be required.

HTH,
Phil

Your 340 is a '59 or later. If you are using Hy-tran or equivalent(that is what's specified), I would doubt that you have water or ice. Moisture will be suspended in that type of lubricant. You probably have a relief valve that's stuck open. The 340 is the predecessor to the 504 which has two relief valves. Don't know how many you have.

I HAD A 504 WITH A LOADER WHEN I BOUGHT THIS TRACTOR IT WAS IN THE WINTER AND I COULD NOT GET THE HYDS. TO WORK AT ALL I PULLED THE HYD FILTER TO MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT PLUGED IT WAS VERY CLEAN AND NO ICE HERE SO WE PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AND FEW WEEKS LATER IT WARMED UP ENOUGH OUTSIDE TO THAW OUT THE FLUID AND IT STARTED WORKING I THEN WARMED THE FLUID BY USING THE LOADER FOR A HOUR AND DRAINED THE FLUID AND REFILLED IT WITH TRACTOR HYD FLUID. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM AFTER THAT. SOUNDS LIKE THIS MAYBE YOUR PROBLEM..
