F80 Mystery Solved!!!!!

I’ve spend several hours in my library but I think I’ve finally figured out the “F80”.

In the book “Tractors Nobody Ever Bought”, by some guy NOT named Fay, chapter 4,
page 127, paragraph 8 I found some information on what is probably the tractor in
question..

I believe what the gentleman saw was not an F80 but rather a very rare model of the
Farmall “0-8 “

This tractor was rated 8 belt horsepower and 0 drawbar horsepower.

While these tractors were quite adequate for a number of belt applications the cost of
owning a second tractor to move them from job to job made them a little inconvenient
since they could not move under their own power.

Their sales dropped to zero when farmers realized they could have them same thing by buying a stationary engine and putting it on wheels.

When I was very small, Dad inherited a JD A. He rated it at 0-0-5. That is 0 HP on the belt, 0 on the drawbar, and 5 cuss words a minute. He even cussed it when he had to walk by it in the shed.

I did write that book, but I ghost wrote it, and nobody bought it. Just like many of my other books....Why Norwegians are Smart, Lutefisk for Lovers, The Guy Fay Method for Dating Women, and How to Get a Full Time, Permanent Job with the State of Wisconsin. Strange, people seem to know what I can't do....

I believe Bobduck has solved the mystery - except why aren't Farmall 0-8's more highly sought after by collectors? This seems to be the exact thing that most fellows would pay big bucks to own. I'm going to check e bay, bet they'll have at least one. D-2
