This may be a stupid question but here goes..... I have a 1949 H and I want to replace the points, rotor, & cap but the cap is stuck I think. I unclipped the clips and it won't budge. Is there a hidden screw or something? Or is it just because it hasn't been off forever? Help please...

All that holds it is the two clips. They can be a bit tough to get off if they have been on a long time.

Brent - I've encountered those caps stuck on pretty good - especially if the tractor's been living outdoors for a few years. Try tapping it with a wooden hammer handle, scrap 2x4 or something. A few taps on the top, bottom and side - keep repeating until it comes free. Don't worry about damaging the metal distributor body - the cap is the fragile part of the assembly!

Also keep in mind that if the cap breaks on you (or you gotta break it to get it off) a new one costs less than $10.
