I have a Farmall C that I purchased to restore as the first *C* I did I did not think I would ever sell it but I did. The motor is NOT froze up I bought two front rims and a radiator I have chains and there is a rear half including another rear end trans etc plus another hydraulics as a spare. All for the first 800.00. AlBie

If the engine is locked up, you should get it CHEAP. Don't pay too much. Should be well under $1000 depending on other condition. Good sheet metal is hard to find and expensive. So if that is good, it's a plus. Rear tires cost $500-$600, so if the tires are flat or dry cracked, you probably will need those. With the engine locked, I'd try to get it for no more than $500, less if it's rough otherwise. Also check to make sure the block is not cracked. Look behind the carburator. That is where they crack out when they freeze up. Good Luck!!

Brain, there is a article in the acticle archives on the left side of this page. It has a very good article about buying a tractor. Also T.W. Cook has a very good web page on the Farmall H... I know you are looking at a " C " but this page has a very good section on buying your first tractor and what to look for. Its well worth the look, many people from this board and other boards has help him put the page on buying a tractor together along with other page's he has.

Hey Brian, Welcome to the Farmall family. It's a lot of fun to breath new life into one of the old girls. The information these guys have is invalueable, use them - they will save a lot of hair pulling and money. By the way - when your wife accuses you of loving your tractor more than her, it's natural - she won't like the competition... And it also means you've truely made it to the club... Good luck with your project.
