Where is the dipstick located? On my SMTA the upper petcock was replaced by a fitting with a dipstick in it. Have seen them used on the old JDs that used a similar setup to check oil. the plug was taken out and replaced byt this gizmo with a dipstick in it.

The dipstick was a aftermarket option. My Grandpa put one on his M. Bill {Antique Acres}

I believe most M's (and H's) had an angled flat spot cast in the block that was, on later models, the location for a dip stick. Surely someone has drilled a hole at the proper angle and stuck a 460 dip stick in! Wonder what else the drill would hit? How did he calibrate the depth of the stick? Another great "cottage industry web site" for some upgrader. D-2
