What can you tell me about 6 volt lights? Are the 6v. bulbs still available, can you get the rubber seal behind the lens, can you get lenses? Or, do you have to hunt for a good light or too off a salvage tractor. Also, my H has a red light with a switch through the top, was this for factory or was it added on later?? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks Ben

I just completed getting my original 6V headlights working on a Super A. The IH dealer offered to special order the original type sealed beam bulbs for about $40 each. These have a screw terminal that protrudes through the back of the metal lamp housing. He also offered a modern GE 6V bulb close enough to correct diameter to fit. Pass the wires, hot and ground, through the housing hole and fasten to screw terminals on the bulb. About $10 each for these.

I have a couple of orginal 6 volt bulbs that I think are still good. E-mail me if you want them. I have them as the result of a conversion to 12 volts. Also have two 6 volt bulbs that came out of aftermarket replacement lights. These are 6 volt, but the modern version.

My H is a 51' model and it has the red "tail" light mounted on top of the rear light.I was talking to the parts manager at a local Case/IH dealer and he said that light setup was available on 1951's only.
