When we got here to the farm in Washburn, Thursday evening, the left rear tire on my '41 M had given way to old age and rot. The only place I can find a 13.6x38 around here wants $387.00 for a new tire & tube (mounted & filled). This seems a little extreme to me. Any ideas on finding a used tire instead?

Thanks to all for the replies. Sorry about the delay in getting back - recovering from sinus surgery and yesterday was not a good day - didn't touch the 'puter. Ralph - check your e-mail.

I thought I could go the cheap route, Haas, and just tube the tire until I took a second look at the tire. I'd be afraid to drive it with that tire on it and I'd probably have $100-125 in just the tube, mounting and filling, so I'll be looking at some used tires for the time being.

I have a mixed pair of 13.6x38 tires I'll let you have cheap. I haven't looked at them in awhile, but they are probably 20%-30% tread, not too weathered. I'm in Deer Lodge, but can deliver to Oak Ridge. I have a co-worker who runs the store in Washburn.

I am from East Tn. but farther South, down around Cleveland,Tn. I purchased a 1950 M last Nov. My tires are weather cracked also haven't yet purchased them but I did call around for prices and my local co-op priced 13.6x38 for $259.95 + tax this inclued mounting.Tubes are 32.95 +tax. I did not ask about putting calcium in them scince I intend to show mine rather than use it. I found one other local tire store that priced theirs at $265.00 including tax and mounting,slightly cheaper than the co-op, These prices are for the 4 ply rating. I have not been able to find any used ones that are any better than mine. Anyhow nice to find some one else from East Tn. on this board. Good Luck hillbilly;

The tires I got for $298 from the Co-op were 6 ply. I also just bought some 11.2 X 36 four ply for a Farmall C. They were $225 each plus tubes. This was from a local tire dealer, not the CO-op.

I paid $298 per tire at the Farmers Co-op for 13.6 x 38 tires. You will also need a tube for around $30. I'm sure that there is a Co-op somewhere near you. If you want solution in the tire, it will cost you more. You might find a used tire at a salvage yard. I kind of looked for awhile for used tires, but never found any I would have. It will cost you $40-50 just to get a used tire mounted. A tractor salvage yard might have a tire and rim for a reasonable price. There is a savage guy at Dandrige, TN east of Knoxville off I-40. Don't know the phone number. I guess the bottom line is a tire for and M is gonna cost around $350 the best you can do. Also be prepared to clean up the rim. It's probably all rusty on the inside. If you are lucky it's in reasonable shape and won't need replacement or major repairs. But I'd give it a 50/50 you will have to do some welding on the rim. Good luck. Let me know how you come out.

Hey B.Red, My M tire did something similiar so I went the cheap route. Took the rim off and went down to the farm supply store and let them put me a new tube in it and only cost around $50. Are your tires loaded?
