I was looking at my M today and have got the notion to move the wide front from the short wheelbase position to the long wheelbase postion. It looks fairly straightforward, except for the bars that go back from the pivot housing to the frame rails. They are bolted to the bottom of the frame rails using a hole in the bottom of the rail. No such holes exist for the long wheelbase postion. Any ideas? I am hoping that I do not have to make the holes, I don't want a long wheelbase that bad.
thanks! BTD

Thanks for the input guys. I was hoping that I was missing something and didn't have to drill any holes. I didn't trust my interpretation of my owners manual. -BTD

I have an M manual that shows the wide front axle. There are some parts that are used in the short position that are not used in the long position. Main thing is the adapter plate. It does look like that the braces are mounted farther forward in the long postion. Send me an E mail if you want me to scan the illustrations and send to you.

Yup, ya got to make the holes! First WFE I mounted didn't come with the adapter plate so I had to mount it in the long wheel base position and that required drilling two 1/2" holes in the bottom of the frame rails. Actually I think the short wheel base holes had to be drilled when the wfe was installed. Th long postion does makes the tractor look different, I like it. D-2
