I visited a guy across the county yeaterday. He is an auction scavenger and buys a lot of IH stuff. I was amazed at the number of A, Super A, B, Super C, H, M carcasses he had in the farm yard. Most is deteriorating quickly. I'm trying to talk him into letting me part the stuff out before it goes away into a heap of rust. He's 78 years old and he'll never get around to stripping the stuff. Most of it is too far gone to restore, but I'm going to continue to negotiate with him. Most of it was scrap when he bought it, but he still has the first M he bought new, a super C and a B he bought new. He still has his '49 Ford four-door, too, but it is beyond restoration. Time will tell how this works out.

Your doing again Bubba, your getting side tracked! Remember that 52 8n that you've been working on??you know the one, the one that's been in pieces in the back yard for the last 25 years?, the one that you told us over on the N board that your getting back to work on?.

Toss a tarp over that super A of yours and forget about it! Out of sight out of mind!

and finish your N !!!(-:

I'm working on the 8N daily. I have the parts ready to blast and I just bought a new spray gun. I have the lift cover in the shop as we speak, ready to change the cam follower pin, adjust, re-bush and add new lift arms. Besides, it's only been 3 years....The Super A would be quicker, as it's still in the basic tractor shape.

At 78 he would be smart to maybe keep it. It may be the "crutch" that has helped him get through all these many years. As has been said a number of times, there's more to this collecting than profit or logic. Sounds like he may need to keep it? R

I went to an auction once where a guy was selling ALL of his shop tools, hand tools, old projects, new projects, etc. because his doctor told him it would kill him if he didn't. You could see the guy die a little each time the hammer fell. It was one of the saddest things I've ever seen.

At the same auction, they sold a beautifully restored Allis Chalmers. Unfortunately it wasn't advertized and sold for under $600. The guy put a lot of love into that tractor, and he was crying as they sold it. The good part of this story is that the guy that bought it had a heart too,and sold the tractor back to him before the auction was over.

Sounds like that feller needs to find a new doctor.

He says he wants to sell it all. Tried to get me to offer a package price. I'm going to see if we can't work a deal where I'll pull the parts and sell them for, say, 70%.
