Differences between Super A and 100?

Hi all,

I have always admired and would someday like to own a Farmall Super A. It's the classic A with hydraulics...best of both worlds. But lately I've seen pics of the model 100, which I understand follows directly after the production of the Super A. It looks very much the same as the Super A to me. Are there any differences between the models, other than production dates? Thanks in advance,

Bill Larson

Bill, I looked at a pretty good restoration Super A last week. It was running (a little rough, but probably plugs, points, and new gas would help). Metal was in pretty fair shape but needed a new paint job pretty quickly. It had both sets of cultivators with it as well. The man asked $1200 for it. I probably would have bought it, but I had passed another one on the way up that I wanted to look at first. I stopped and looked at a Super A that obviously had been shed kept since it was repainted. It had a plow, disc, cultivators, and a planter with it. It also ran like a top! I bought it off him for $1800. From what I've seen of prices, I think I got a steal. This other machine is located in East Texas if you're interested.

Don't forget the biggest difference, the engine. The 100 uses the C123 engine with 22 drawbar HP vs. the C113 with 17.35 drawbar HP in the Super A.

The 100 is the immediate follow on to the Super A. Mechanically it would be almost identical to a late model Super A, (sometimes called a Super A1). A little different sheet metal, new emblems, probably a few other sutble differences, but, essentially the same tractor.

IH also added the single-point Fast-Hitch when the 100 was introduced.

Thanks for the reply guys. I suspected the differences were subtle, just wanted to confirm it. Now I can expand my future search on two Farmall models instead of one.
