I recently rebuilt a 42 model, and she will not hold high RPM. By thatI mean when you pull the throttle back, i get an initial serge, then she falls right back to a lower RPM,(what you would consider mid range) even with the throttle still at wide open. I adjusted the gov right by the IT service manual, but no luck. Any sugestions? Thanks

Bigger-Red!

Could it not be caused by defective governor spring or worn linkage? If not, how's about a gas line obstruction? Have you checked the strainer glass and checked the tank for debri accumulation?

The carb appears to be getting plenty of fuel as I had installed a see through fuel filter in the supply line. I like the idea of the gov spring though, as every thing else on this old bird was worn out, so why not that, right? Can the springs still be bought new from CaseIH? Guess I'll find out Monday, Thanks.
