I have a H and the starter will not turn the motor over. I cannot turn the crank pulley by hand either but the other accesories can be turned by hand. I drove the tractor into the garage the last time I used it and now the motor appears to be stuck. Could this be excessive carbon build up on the valves and should I turn the pulley with a large wrench just to break it loose. please advise.

It was the starter jammed against the flywheel, not a stuck motor at all. This took 5 minutes versus much more time chasing nothing. Thanks to all the fellas that said it was the starter.

Brad:

I've gotta agree with the others on the starter. But, I'm wondering about when it was you said you last drove it in the shed. How's the battery? Do you recall when shutting down whether or not it back-fired?

Like Dave T says, take the starter loose or take it all the way out. Then see if it will turn over with the crank.

Your starter bendix may be stuck in the forward position. Loosen the bolts and wiggle the starter a bit, then see if it turns over. This happened on my A. I was ready to exchange motors. Luckily I read it here first....Dave

I recomend to just stick that wrench on and turn it gentily. But it could be something else. How long has it been sitting?
