I am looking at a clean 59' 460 gas, fasthitch with a Oliver loader on it with a regular and manure bucket. The loader is heavy duty but needs a few cracks welded. Good tin, very good orginal paint and always kept inside. Hours unknown. Comes with a fasthitch 3-bottom plow. No fenders and back tires need replaced. He wants $3,900. Do you think that is a good price? It runs good and has strong lifting power but when you lower the loader it kills the engine. I haven't a clue what would cause that. Any ideas? Oh, it also has a widefront, it looks like a factory one.

The price sounds a little high to me, but if the TA works it wouldn't be as bad. Check the selector for the hydraulic valve that operates the lift on the loader, it can be set for single acting or double acting hydraulics. Make sure it's set right for the loader you have. The selector is below the dash panel, right between the clutch and brake pedals. The 460 is a good tractor. We have had one on the farm for a long time, and we have had good luck with it.

It's the same as my 560, and there are actually 3 cylinder adjusting knobs. Need a crescent wrench to change. 90 degree turn changes from single acting to double acting. Just turn a little bit and keep trying until it works.
