Changed plugs and plug wires on my 130 and motor runs rough. Was running smoothly before plug change. Any help would be appreciated.

What kind of plug wires did you use? These tractors sometimes don't like the modern resistor/suppressor wire. Most folks have best luck with plain copper wires. You could also have a bad new plug. It shouldn't happen, but, sometimes it does.

Thanks for the advice. The plug wires are on correctly. Is is possible that the valves need to be adjusted? Any help appreciated.

It's very easy to get the plug wires installed wrong, even though it's only a 4 cyl. . If you have a manual, check your firing order and make sure # 1 cylinder matches # 1 on your distibuter. I did the same thing on my 130 when I changed the plug wires. If you want me to check anything on my 130 that will help you, let me know. Good luck!

My 140 is very tempermental about trash in the opening at the bottom of the fuel tank. I replaced my metal line with a two piece rubber hose and some quick clamps. All I have to do is disconenct the hose and blow some air into the tank to clean the opening out. Eventually everything will pass through and settle in the bowl. Just everyonce in a while things get plugged up.

hopes this helps

I installed the regular copper plug wires. Today I adjusted the valves, reset the points and plugs, removed the carburetor and cleaned it, but she still won't smooth out. What next - should I replace the coil or something? I appreciate all your help.

Just for the heck of it, put the old plugs back in and see if it smooths out.

I threw the old plugs away but I just ordered a new set. I will try that first. Thanks for the help.
