I have a crack where the fitting is welded on on a hydraulic cylinder (where the hose threads in). Anyone have any tips on welding a cylinder? Should I have it full of oil to prevent a fire, or empty it out? Or buy a new cylinder.....

I've brazed hyd fittings and lines on my equip before with good results, its a must that the pressure that builds up when welding can escape or it will blow up with hot oil all over you, so be sure to empty the oil first! Best to do it off the tractor.
