Just got my tractor. I want to hook up to the hydraulics but there are 3 places to hook up to.

One is on the drivers right, under the belt pully. The other 2 are on the left side of the tractor. Is one of the connectors pressure and one a return line?

Thanks for the help.

The owners manual states that the system allows you three ways to deliver lift. The entire cultivator, a delay for the rear pump such as on a plow and lifting either side of a scuffler independent of each other. The others who responded are quite correct in that the liftall in its stock form is single acting, the weight of the attachment will feed the oil back into the liftall, I'm not sure which fitting is the delay but if you are only running one line to a ram it doesn't matter, it will if you are using 2 cylinders..Good luck

All 3 are pressure. These are single acting only, no returen line. Return and pressure through same line. Rear fitting on left side may have a 3 second delay in it. This was to allow front cultivator sections to raise before rear section. Doc.

Delay action was caused by two different size cylinders, a 3" lifting easier then a 21/2". The delay in dropping is the two front ports have one ball on a seat for return, and the rear on left has same, when you push leaver forward you release one ball, push on down and you release the other ball.

All I have read prior to seeing this response, here and elsewhere, I was under the impression the delay was in the pump. I just had my M belly pump apart, found no provision for a delay. I checked further in the I&T manual and that shows what appears to ba an adapter that goes on the outlet with a check valve and there is an explaination of the different pressures involved. the pressures listed are in the 400 psi range so it must be for older pumps, did the newer 800 psi pumps use something else? Thanks. Doc.

The only valve I know of at that time, was a drop retarding valve , it slowed the drop speed so the implement didn't slam to the ground, some of these were adjustable. There may well have been other types of valves.

All are pressure ports. The rear one is a delayed lift for rear cultivators, etc. You only have one way hyd. with out adding an open center valve. What are you doing with the hyd?

All, Thanks alot for the info!!

Frank, At this point I am just learning about the hyd.. I have lots of grand ideas "cooking". I have access to an old IH swather, log splitter ect. Looking forward to having lots of fun. I am trying to figure out a 3 point hitch for the H also.

Now that you understand the workings, IH made a 2 way adapter that we have on our Super M. but with no filter in the grim wore it out and it did not hold. We then used an aftermarket valve. Heres how you build your 2 way hydraulic. take one of the ports preferably one that is not delayed and hook it up to the "in" port of a 3 or 4 way valve( a 3way has 1 up 2 hold 3 down a 4 way has 1 up 2 hold 3 down 4 float) such as a Greesen or Cross open center valve with a 1000 psi relief, then from the return "out" side , T it into the fill cap of the Lift All. The other two ports are for your 2 way cylinder. The control rod for the original pump needs to be locked in the raise position to work. Some type of a latch can be used. If you want to, a filter can be placed between the added valve and the return to the fill of your lift all.
