My father in law has a Super C. It runs great but over time, (a month or so) the battery eventually loses its charge. I have replaced the generator, the switch, the voltage regulator, (and of course the battery, about 3 times), still seems to lose charge. It is a 6 volt system. the wiring is old, but looks good. Thinking of re-wiring it anyway. Any thoughts would be helpful. thanks in advance

Alan, Always make sure battery post and battery cables are clean. Also, make sure that the cable that is fasen to the frame is clean and bolted down tight to the frame. I had trouble with a tractor one time and it took me about 3 months to find out what was wroung with it.

Alan, incase you didn't know, you can get the exact wiring harness you need. They make them brand new. Most antiue tractor magazines have ad's for them. Have you checked the battery voltage with a volt meter? Would be interested to know the voltages when charging, when first shut off and after a period of time(1-2 weeks). Dave BN

Alan, I think if you replace the wiring harness you'll cure the problem. More than likely you have a wire that has bare insulation and its leaking off the battery voltage through a short to ground. Could be massive corrosion too but feel the new wire will make a marked difference.//FB
