Is there a product that a guy can put into an engine block temporarily to flush it out? I am afraid that I have sand in mine from sandblasting.

The same IH mechanic that said to flush the rear with kerosene, also said DO NOT put it in the engine.

Is Kerosine a bad idea? I have heard others say thay have done this with the transmission.
Also, I was wondering about using diesel fuel to flush both the transmission and the block.

Buy a quart of Gunk Engine Flush at Walmart.
Pour in cold crancase and run 5 minutes, then drain. works!

I had good luck using dish washer detergent - about a 1/4 cup per fill, run it for a couple hours, drain, refill, run, etc. until it runs clean. May take several flushes. I got lots of rust and scale, sometimes had to unplug the drain pipe with a screwdriver to get the gunk out! Would be a good idea to follow up with a couple or three rinse cycles using a half cup full of baking soda, and the fresh water. Then use a 50/50 mix of good antifreeze and water. Don't add your antifreeze first and then the water - mix it first!
