To put into perspective the advance in farming technology represented by the introduction of Farmall (and the other mfr's) tractors, see how plowing and fitting was accomplished BEFORE the tractor was introduced!

These photos were taken at the annual "Old Fashion Farm Days" in Caledonia, NY on April 29. There were 40 - 50 teams working over about 20 acres of old corn ground. A neat step back in time...

The short version is been there done that. That said, I grew up on a farm using Mules to do what the photos show. Thanks for posting the pictures. Brings back memories.

Thanks Bob for sharing the photos. Looks like it was a beautiful day for the event. I've often wished I could have been around to experience the "Farming with horses" but only have pictures like these to live those days. Guess I'll just settle for the memory of all night plowing with our Farmall M and its red hot muffler on a moonlite night. FB

Hey FB - I wasn't around for "farming with horses" either, but my father in law saw a few years of it as a teenager. Says doesn't miss it a bit!

Like you however I have fond memories of tractor plowing late into the night with only a red glowing muffler as my only company. Unfortunately my son (who runs only diesel equipment) has never witnessed anything like that...

Well John - I gotta think the horses had a better day there than did the chickens - at least the ones occupying these grills! ...Bob

I can smell that chicken up here in Vermont. I was a chicken cooker for many years where I worked. We had a ball. And quite a few beers to get through it. Thanks for the memorys. (who said that)
