When my 300 is parked on uneven ground, oil leaks out of the axle seal (in a steady stream when the oil is warm). Is this a common problem? How much of a wrestling match is it to fix the problem? Where do I check the fluid level to make sure I haven't let too much oil leak out? What type of oil does it take? I know that's a lot of questions, but I'm pretty dumb about this tractor as yet. Any help would be much appreciated.

Kurt & Mark are describing a Farmall 300 (rowcrop). Shawn is describing the International (utility) version. Be careful with the wheel assembly, it can weigh over 1000lb if loaded with calcium, and wheel weights. Check the outer axle bearing by watching the axle shaft as weight is taken off the wheel with a jack. You should see no vertical movement of the shaft in relation to the axle housing.

Bartman Toughest part is removing the wheel be carefull you cant stop them if there going to fall.. Then there is just the seal and a felt washer I buy the gasket also easier than cutting one

Loosen the 4 bolts on the hub till you have a good wobble. Lube the axle with diesel or whatever grab the bottom of tire and pull an let go pull and let go it will take a series of pulls. If it has more than 4 wheel weights take these off first. Then just roll wheel ahead and set it against grill or around back of tractor and rest it against other wheel. then pull dust cap off and see what is happening.

I am assume it is a 300 utility. If so, the oil level plug is just above muffler and below floor pan. As far as the seels go, take tire off and there is a bolt on end of hub (axel). Once removed , every thing slides off of spline allowing seal to be replaced.I don't know seel #'s off hand.
