More than one option for Farmall 400 gas tank?

I brought home a replacement gas tank for my 400 as the original tank had some bird nest in it and other problems. The tank that I found is deeper and will hold more fuel but I need to know if it will fit ok. A quick measurement shows that the mountings are the same. I would like to use it as it is very clean inside which would be a really big help to me.

A second question. How much do the rear wheel weights weigh? It was over 90 degrees here today and the wheel weights seemed pretty heavy. Could be some age starting to show do you think??

Thanks for any information.

Bob

You've heard that the 21 gallon tank will fit but there is a catch. The hydraulic lines that are on the 400 with the 18 gallon tank are different than with the 21 gallon tank. If your tractor came with the 18 gallon tank the hydraulic line point at a 45 degree angle towards the front. If it came with the 21 gallon tank they are one above the other up tight against the hydraulic reservor pointing straight out to the sides.

Good to learn about the tank differences and the hydraulic lines. I think I better go over to the salvage yard and see if I can find a matching set of hydraulic lines to go with the tank.

Thanks, Bob

Yes, there is the 18 gal and the 21 gal, both should fit just fine. I think the full rear weights weigh 142lbs, or close to it.

I didn't weigh those wheel weights, but MAN were they heavy! when I worked with mine on the 450.
