My '41 M has been sitting in the barn since the rim rusted thru in February. I put a new rim and a used tire on Sunday morning and went to start it and no joy. The starter turns over and the battery has plenty of charge, am getting gas to the carb. Pulled the #1 plug wire and it fell out of the distributor cap, tried the #2 wire and there was no spark when I held it against the block while cranking, so now I need a set of plug wires. Will also take points, condenser, new plugs and a coil next time we go back to the farm. Is there anything else I should be looking at? Thanks in advance, y'all.

Thanks, y'all! I'm looking forward to hearing that M roar when we're up over the long 4th of July weekend. Thanks again.

Bama Red ten to one the points have a green layer on them along with the rotor. I have that constant problem with my Hs if they sit in my damp barn without use for a good period of time. If you file those clean, I bet she fires right up. I doubt you need a coil. I would get

Points
Rotor
Distributor Cap
Condensor.

Red - are those items available thru NAPA or will I need to look for my local Case/IH dealer or thru one of the suppliers at this site?

IH350 ECH is the rotor cap
IH300 ECH is the rotor.
IC9 ECH is the 6 volt coil but it is a big sucker and doesn't clamp very well. Ken Updike will have the correct size coil. 608-455-2411.

Bama - Your local NAPA should have those parts. Just tell 'em whether you've got an IHC (horizontal) or Delco (vertical) distributor as the cap, etc do not interchange. I also suggest spending an extra $8 or so and buy a fresh set of D21 Champion or C86 AC plugs to take along...

I'd take a Dist. Cap along.
