The H I bought the other day has a starter but that is all it has, no switch, no battery, no wire harness. To get it on my trailer we used a 12V battery and jumper cables with the positive on the frame and negative on the starter terminal bolt. That is a pain and until I can get the required parts I would like to start it by the front crank. It is a magneto tractor so I assume that won't be a problem. Problem is, I don't have a starter crank arm. Any idea where I can get one or it there a safe way to fashion something at home? I got the tractor Saturday and haven't been able to run it yet, it's driving me nuts! -BTD

Be careful. If you happen to leave the tractor in gear and start it, it will run you over and could KILL you. Don't ask how I know this.

Somebody I know really well (uh hem) cranked one up he thought was out of gear. The 300 started up and took a 12 ft section of wall out of his pole barn. Luckily it was about 4 ft away from wall, and was able to get out of the way quick enough.

There is a hand crank on this site's auction page listed under parts. It is currently $21.00 and is a longer version for tractors with cultivators or wide front ends. Good luck - Fireman316

Since it has a magneto, it requires no battery to run. You can either pull start it with another tractor or use the crank. Look to a salvage dealer to find a crank or try putting an ad in the classifieds on this site. I bet you'll find one right away.

I made my own, but if you don't have a mill or the materials, have your local machinist make one.
