Is a spin on filter adapter available for a '49 H? If so, how do they mount? How about a '62 560? That sounds a lot better than messing with the o-rings and cartridges.

Got the ones for my M and SM several years ago through the local CarQuest/Goodyear store. The aluminum filter base simply screws onto the original filter base, and the spin-on filter screws onto the top of it. Doesn't look "original" but it's sure the convenient way to change a filter!

Don't change the O-RING. Once You get the o-ring in and seated in the groove when You change the filter just tighten the thru-bolt slightly, run the tractor till it warms up and if it leaks just tighten it up till it stops leaking. Turn the filter cover before it gets snug to make sure it finds the old groove it made in the gasket. From snug to leak-free shouldn't be over 1/2 a turn of the clamp bolt more. That's the way Dad & I have done it for the last 50+ yrs.

On the H. You remove the current assembly that the can sits on and bolt up the spin filter assembly. Bermuda Ken Updike has those in stock. 608-455-2411.

Brent if I recall, around $50 for the assembly and $5 for the filter. Throw in shipping and you around $60 give or take.
