I found an old F-14 that will be sold at auction tommorow. It is really rough but is all there. There is a lot of spare motor parts that sell too but the guy doesn't know if they are for a 12 or a 14. Should I buy it if it goes real cheap even if just for parts Thanks

The 12 and 14 are very similar, and the engines are almost the same. the 14 has 2 bolts holding the valve cover, like the late 12, and the 14 has a different breather on the engine. the 14 also has a higher steering, and longer brake handles, and sometimes foot brakes. Other than that, they are about the same. The internal parts of the engine and trans are the same I think. I have a 12, and they are a nice little tractor.

If it looked fixable and went for a decent price I'd buy it if it was me. I have one and they are a pretty neat little tractor. There are lots of parts available and almost all F12 parts fit the F14 - a few are different.

The engines for the 12 and 14 are the same. The only difference is that the 12 engine runs to 1400 RPM and the 14 is governed at 1650.

The late F12 engines are the same as the F14, but not the early ones. My 35 has a different crank, different piston rods, different oil filter base, etc than my 36 parts tractor. Even earlier, Waukausha engines were used and were completely different.

One thing I noticed is the pistons on later tractors are taller than the earlier, Mike is right they changed some of the internals ( at least the pistons)between the '35 and'36.
