Just got these two last Friday. Where can you find rebuild kits for these engines(gas/diesel). I need to change the left rear tire and was wondering if I need to remove the entire wheel from the axle or just the rim from the center? Also, is there a "kit" that I can get to convert the MD from a "trike" set up to a 4 wheeled tractor(Schwartz style?)
Any hel p appreciated as I am brand new to tractor ownership! I have 6 IH trucks and one IH refrigerator so I am a confessed IH nut!

Just pull the rim off the wheel, unless you are going to break the tire down yourself then you may want to do it on the tractor. It makes a nice fixture for holding the rim plus you can rotate it.

Auto parts stores can usually get rings and sleeve kits. Also check ads in magazines like Red Power.

I don't like wide fronts.

Thanks for the information. Both tractors run very well. The TD-6 smokes a little, but very little. The MD does not blow any blue smoke under load or anytime. The MD had a complete tranny rebuild two years ago. The only thing not working on the MD is the hydraulics. Everything on the TD-6 works. I have order an operators manual and a service manual.

The reason for the engine kit question is that I have a spare motor that came with the two tractors that is in need of a rebuild. It would be nice to have it done and waiting in the wings when one of the engines goes south.

How do you engage the PTO on the back? There is a little wire that moves a lever up and down next to the PTO, how does it work? Thanks Haas for the advice!

Oh yeah, I live in a mountainous area, hence that is why I am looking to "wide track" the MD, I do not want to roll it over on the slopes!

Sounds like you got two good IH diesels. If the lift all hydraulic system does not work. First check that it has oil in it. Fill and level check is just in front of belt pulley on RH side. I would recommend draining and refilling it. Use non detergent 30 wt oil. If that does not do it, take the cover plate off the bottom just behind the lift all. You can then look up in there and see the shaft and coupling that drives the lift all pump. Some one may have removed the drive coupling. Could have happened at the tranny rebuild. I guess you are aware that the hydraulics are not live and only work when the clutch is engaged. Hydraulics are also one way only. Down is by gravity. The lift rod has three positions. Release is all the way forward, Hold is in the middle and lift is all the way back. You'll get 800 psi max out of the lift all. The PTO is engaged by the lever at the left side of the PTO. UP is engaged, down is off. It is not live and only turns when the clutch is engaged. It also may have gotten messed up when the tranny was rebuilt. When you find out what the rebuild stuff for that spare engine costs, you will wait awhile on that. Good Luck. Also, look here to see my Tractors. Also pictures of my Grandson.
