I have the first two coats of CaseIH IronGuard paint on my M. I sprayed it Saturday. The humidity has been high here in west Michigan so I have not been able to finish the painting. Does anyone know how forgiving this paint it to time gaps between coats? I want to make sure the paint layers meld into one layer instead of two color layers on top of each other. Thanks! -BTD

I agree with the others, safest bet is to knock the gloss off the cured paint. you can also wet sand with super fine oxide paper (300 - 600 grit), but it's a lot of work. If you don't knock down that gloss, the new paint will peel on you....

Did you use hardner in the paint? I think you would be best off to scuff the paint with the scotch pad like Dave said to be sure that the new paint won't peel off later. I think there are some recoat instructions on the can, something like within two hours or after 48 but don't quote me on that. I would guess that the paint you already painted is already pretty hard, so the new paint won't melt into it but if the surface is scuffed it will bond to it and two more coats should easily cover the scratches.

I don't know the exact limit for Case/IH paint, because I haven't used it, but if it's a concern, take a purple Scotch pad and scuff it up, then put on another coat..

I've been using the green scotchbrite pad. What is the purple pad used for? The green works okay to scuff Omni epoxy primer, so far.

It's medium grit, maroon is a better word for the color....probably the same as the greene
