Super A Question

Hi all,
I'm looking to purchase a Super A(with 3 point) and I can't figure out for sure what I'm looking at. It's definitely a Super A(white circle w/Super over the A), and by the Serial Number it's a 1951 (SN 308XXX). The casting on several parts also point to 1951 manufacture. However, it has a C123 block with "366204 R8" cast in it. Also, the plate only has the serial number and another number "1540" stamped just beneath the SN(and it is 1540, not 1450 for the RPM, and it looks "hand stamped"). There are no prefix letters. It has a stock radiator, and it's not an industrial(no square front axle and no foot throttle).
My guess is that it got a replacement engine at some point but it sure looks like it has the same amount of wear as everything else. Also, I can't really figure out what the "1540" could mean on the plate, if anything, and can't find the "FAA" as the chassis prefix. Any opinions or advice is appreciated.

The 1540 is the no load max governed engine RPM.

I believe you have a replacement motor. According to Guy Fayes Data Book, the Super A had the 113 cu. motor. The Super A1 had the C123. (1954). Consider yourself fortunate. I was luckey when I bought my C. It's a 1951, and the later C's had the 123. It makes a noticeable difference in HP....
