I had a great time at the Elnora show and want to thank everyone who put it on especially Ben Chestnut and crew, NICE tractors!!. Great job!!! Nice place!! Great food!!! And also Thanks to Harry Lee for the ride on the golf cart and the Pepsi!I could really go on about how nice a time I had, but I will get to the nitty gritty about the test. The air temp was around the high 70s to low 80s. We put the 1935 Farmall F-12 on the PTO dyno which was an M&W dyno. Both tests were done with the throttle wide open and up to what the governor would allow.Since I dont have a tach I do not know what the engine PRM was, but it could be figured out if the gear reduction was known for the pto. The gasoline test was conducted first. The tractor was completely warmed up and had been running several hours. The carb was then optimized(adjusted for peak power) for gasoline. The horsepower readings for Gasoline were taken and the tractor was switched over to Kerosene. K1 Kerosene was used. We then waited for about 15 min with the tractor running on the dyno with a medium to heavy load for the gasoline to be cleared from the fuel lines and the carb bowl. Then the horsepower readings were taken with the carb optimized for kero. Here are the results! Gasoline HP at 535 PTO RPM was 13.5. Kerosene HP at 535 PTO PRM was 13.5. No difference! However since the carb had to be leaned out to run on Kerosene, we determined that the Horsepower Hours (kind of like MPG)would most likely be favorable when running on kerosene compared to Gasoline but not by much since the mixture screw only had to be turned about 1/4 turn.I think I may try to test that the next time. The exhaust color for both fuels during the test was clear, no smoke. This test wasn't as accurate as the Neberaska tests(we tried to be as accurate as possible) but we sure got a good idea about which fuel is better!I would have to say Gasoline because of the oil dillution when using kerosene requiring oil to be drained to the middle check valve adding to the cost of operation. I also found out my little F-12 engine is in pretty good shape to put up with what we put it through! After the test was over I lit a cigar off the manifold, can you say "red hot"! I hope everyone finds this info interesting as I did.

Bob Kerr: Thanks for posting the results. That should keep people from thinking gas was so much more powerful. Back in the 1930's when few people had money it was well worth the effort to run as cheap a fuel as possible and still have reasonable power. I remember people stopping at our house and asking if they could work for a few hours helping ..just to get a small meal. If anyone doesn't think saving a few dollars on fuel was not important, they need a history lesson. Thanks for your effort and also for posting the results.. ralph
