A third world nation run by a bunch of Yahoo's
with shoulder arms and ragtag trucks thinks that they can fight a campaign against the biggest, the best and most powerful military ever created.
Mmmmm..... these people already live in the stone age, they are probably going to be pushed back into the ice age.

I am also a church going man. My thinking God is sending us a message. Just think what the people in this country has been doing these last years!!Our ex president lied under oath all the time, led a corrupt life. Many many people in this country also are living a corrupt life, divorce , marry, divorce, marry again, shack up and have families, which they clain as their rights . Look at all the bad kinds of drugs that those people can invent. Those same people kill in any way they have to so they can get money for their habit, too lazy to work. What causes all the aids in the world? If people behave themselves it wouldn't spread. I think God is mad at the people in the world, in many countries they don't know God. There are still some people in the U.S. that go to their church of choice but the percentages are getting smaller every year. Too many people do not have time to spend 1 hour a week in a house of God for worship. One other thing God can not go into our schools now, no more prayers at gradutation, no bringing religious books to school, the kids can't even mentin God with out getting called to the office, but teachers can teach evolution. Than people wonder when things go wrong.

I had commented yesterday about how to defeat the enemy from without.I didn't comment about the enemy within! We have become arrogant and immorality is becoming a HUGE problem here. The news has reported how these terrorists live here and remain so hateful of us because of the negative side of our society they see every day.Only we can change those things from within by returning to our churches and synagoges and listening to what these religious leaders have to say.

I don't think God is mad at us - he gave us total freedom to do with as we will. I think he is up there biting very white, clenched knuckles wondering if he should have made us more perfect -except nowadays that is called genetic engineering. And how boring Earth would be if we were all the same - perfect. Before we go beyond our borders seeking justice, we have to remember nobody has successfully gone into Afghanistan in a lot of centuries. All our military hardware and mentality is geared to a different kind of threat. We are not going up against an enemy with modern methods. We are going up against savages barely out of the stone age armed with modern weapons. We need to drastically revise how we go about solving this problem and it will take time. Meanwhile we have to be vigilant - but not vigilantes.

Well said. I am 25 and also a church goer. I think if we go over there and just deal with Afganistan and Sadam Been Laden and his suicidal bunch with the capture dead or alive aproach (focusing more on the dead part) it might not be so bad. Done mainly by our fighter jet pilots that is. That is looking at it with a positive mind though with lots of hope. Something in the back of my mind says it isn't going to happen that way. The whole situation could explode in any of numerous directions. I am 25 and fit into the prime drafting age catagory. I have no problem putting on the uniform myself, but I reflect on how many draft dodgers we had during Vietnam and I am sure the draftdodging would be much higher now with our much lower in morals population. During WW II it was a big disgrace to ignore the draft by the general public but was excepted somewhat by some of the public during Vietnam, even our own Bill Clinton. Then we welcomed all those idiots to come back home from Canada after Vietnam. Most parents this day in age would probably even buy there kids tickets to leave the country the day after they got the draft papers. Most kids growing up in this country don't realize how good they got it and don't understand that many lives have been shed to maintain our good living. My age group has probably the lowest percentage of going to church. I am not scared of terrorists or deffending our country but I am scared of this situation blowing all out of proportion into WW III. I am scared of nuclear war heads, biological weapens, and fighting people that are suicidal. This may be the first time in my life that I fear the devil and his growing control of the world. There doesn't seem to be many of us good old boys left to get all the work that needs to be done in this world. Maybe we could lase strictnine in the cocain, deport everyone with aids, and export the gays and lesbians, but if we done that we would probably lose about 25% of the U.S. population. Well thats enough of me rambling on so God Bless Ameriaca and for God's sakes America wake up and get back to some morals.

We can defeat the enemy if certain conditions are met.First of all,we need to let the Pentigon do it's job.If the politicians get too involved it will hamstring the military. All they need to do is supply cash.Secondly,we must prepare for what may turn into a long fight and continue to support our troups for as long as it takes.Third,we must continue to get support from our allies and other countries in the middle east for bases of operation and intelligence.

Remember Viet Nam? Korea? don't get too overconfident. The former Soviet Union got involved in the Afghan civil war, and it turned into their Viet Nam. They may be a small country, but it is their home turf which is always an advantage, plus they've had a long time to amass weapons, and plan tactics.
I am certain we can defeat them if that is the course of action that the government chooses to take, but it needs to be planned out and well coordinated to be effective with minimal US casualties.

Lazy Horse: Well said. Remember the story of David and Goliath in the Bible. That little boy cut down the big powerful oponent. That is a very political area of the world. Thats a very big item to try and deal with political and religeous beliefs of emotional countries. ralph

when I heard the president say this is going to be a war on terrorism I had a flash back of the time I remember hearing a president say he was declaring war on drugs to stop all imports of drugs and shut down the lords that make the stuff we all know how that turned out, don't get me wrong I'm a church going, God fearin man and I pray for our president, but only by the power of God will we as a country be able to hold off the inevitable pray for grace and mercy because I think the fuse has been lit it's only a matter of time now.

Yes, I do agree that if it is poorly planned then yes it could turn into another Vietnam. But I believe that with experience in that type of Quagmire we wont let the politicians in DC micromanage the war out of the pentagon. In regards to the Russians, The russian, afgan conflict was fought 20 years ago without hightech equipment that we have now. Besides we dont need to go in and capture territory we need to eliminate terrorist activity by destroying terrorist bases, supplys to terrorists and money. Also our soil was invaded by an enemy, this gives much more umph to our offense phychologically.
