H-motor stuck

I just bought a 1940 model H to restore. I have been hanging around in the Unofficial Allis-
Chalmer discussion page but since I bought the H I thought I needed RED advice now. The former owner told me he used it about 4 years ago and it ran fine. When I bought it the engine had seized from sitting out. I have poured a mixture of diesel and transmission fluid in the spark plug holes and still cannot get it loose. Does anybody have any suggestions besides tearing it down. Also, how is the best way to try to turn the engine (ie. crank, starter, pull in gear, etc.)?

I filled the cylinders full of diesel and put the tractor in 5th gear and rocked it gently once or twice a day until I saw the fan move. Then I put motor oil in the cylinders and rocked a little harder until it freed up. I has run great ever since.

Patience is definitely your best bet. Don't pull it and dump the clutch unless you want to replace a bunch of engine parts. I have heard of people blocking the tractor up off the ground, putting it in gear, and rocking the tires a little every time you walk by. Sooner or later she'll break loose. Best wishes, be patient, Fireman

I agree with Red.
Time is needed to let it soak in. It took me 1 year to get mine unstuck after about the same amount of time. I would only use the crank to try and rotate the motor, anything else will increase your chances of breaking something. Also, you MUST take the valve cover off and check the valves to make sure they are free. If you start here up and one is stuck you can add a couple of hundred dollars to your restoration bill.

Don't do anything I wouldn't do.

Lot of patience at this point. Was the exhaust covered or exposed to the elements?

It was covered and by looking at the can over the muffler it had been that way the entire time it had set up. Thanks for the advice guys.

I would say a good probabibility that only one ring is stuck. Jack up one main tire, put the transmission in 5th. and rock that main tire back and forth once a week or so.
