While serviceing the disc brakes on my Super M (which never seem to work properly) I noticed the shaft and bearing would be free to pull out, bearing and all,I didn`t pull it far for fear of disconnecting something in the trans. The bearing looks good, all balls in place. If you shake hard on the shaft you can feel a very slight looseness. Is all this normal? The bearing sure isn`t a press fit in the casting. Thanks to all in advance.

Bel, I took out the pinion shaft on my
old super BMD .It has disc brakes which I am fairly certain are the same as yours, replaced the bearing and oil seal, the unit went back into the tractor no trouble. If I hold the shaft and try to move it there is still a hint of slack so I presume that is normal.
Good luck.
