I've recently purchased a 100 that hasn't run in quite a while. I'm trying to split the motor from the center section. It has come apart about an inch but doesn't seem to want to go any further. It seems like the clutch shaft is holding in the center of the clutch. The clutch springs are putting pressure against it. Do I keep prying or is there a safer way to complete the split?

I replaced some clutch parts on our Super A a while back. Here's a link to some pics if they'll help ya. Try to look past the chainsaw, hanging plants and wicker furniture. :-0

Brian, you have to block the engine from floping over to one side before you seperate the middle.A 2x4 or 2x6 jamed in the left side over the axel will sucure it.Like chums said a little rusty in there will cause a drag or tightness at the spline.!! Will

Brian....common problem for a tractor that hasn't run for quite a while up north here(Wisc.) is the clutch plate splines rust to the trany input splined shaft.....to fix...if you can get under and spray like WD-40 onto shaft then just keep equal pry on both sides of bellhousing and should slip apart....might give a jerk apart when it comes....hope this helps.....
