I have a Farmall 400 (serial number 4592 S) that has a sickle mower hooked up to it with a single acting ram. But when my valve is set a single it will not let the mower down. It will go up but not down. With it switched to double acting it goes down slow but buts a load on the engine working against the closed second side. I figure the problem must be in the valve. The ram comes down when I disconnect and I bleed it off manually. Any ideas what went wrong? Can I still get parts for these valves? And last where can I find the sceen for the hydraulic tank? Some one must of taken the screen out at one time.

You did't say if you tried both sides of the hydraulic outlet.

The screen is still available at your Case-IH dealer.

When you said you put your valve on single, do you mean you turn the lever under the hood on top of the valve? You might try to plug your hose into the other outlet. I have one of my valves on my 400 set to float or single and when I have it in the down position the engine doesn't load up. You might send for the operators manual as it explains how these valves work in good laymans terms. Good luck.
