Hi Guys.I need a carb kit or a whole carb.I have a 1945 H. The carb is a IHC d-10.My float has sprung a leak and I soldered it, but this is the second glob of solder. The tractor works great but the float is just getting too weak.My Case International dealer says he cannot buy parts for it any more.He has the float needle and seat and gaskets for $68 canadian.this sounds steep.I would like to have the jets as well so i can take it to have it boiled out.tks Bill Russell

Bill - If the existing float is still otherwise sound aside from the leak, I've had luck fixing them with with using JB Weld or similar gas resistant epoxy. Here's how:

First briefly immerse the float in a container of hot water. The exact location of the leak will be noted by the source of small stream of bubbles. (Remove the float before the bubbles stop - otherwise water will get into it). Carefully mark the location of the leak. Now clean the area around the leak point down to bare metal for about 1/4" around - use very fine sandpaper or steel wool. Then warm the float up long enough to get every trace of gas out of the inside of the float. A heat lamp or flood lamp shined on the float overnite is good. (DON'T stick the float in a warm oven to dry!! It'll stink up the whole house and incur the wrath of any non-tractor enthusiast who lives with you.) Finally give the spot a quick final clean with brake cleaner, alcohol or similar (to get every trace of grease off), then butter the leak with a thin layer of JB Weld. Let the JB cure for 24 hours and you should be good to go.

BTW $68 CDN for a kit sounds steep to me too. You can get one for about $20 US by mail order from Carter & Grunenwald, OEM Tractor Parts and others.....

I bought a kit for the carb on my super M at NAPA auto parts. Not sure if you have them in Canada though. Kit was about $20 american and had needle and seat in it. Float I had to get from IH and seems it ran about$30. That may be comparable with the exchange. Jets usually can be cleaned as they are pretty accessable and all. Be sure to use a carb cleaner and air to clean the jets, not something like cutting torch timp cleaners like I did since they should stay about the same size to wrok right.
