I have a Farmall M with narrow front. Can you get weights for the front end or make a holder for it. Is lifting a 1500 lb. round bale asking to much for an M. Thanks

Can't speack to lifting 1500 bales on a three point, cause I don't have one. I've got a beat F11B loader on my '43M, and it handles 1500# bales okay. But, it takes 2 men and a boy to steer (no power steering) and it gets awful light on the rear!

If you use a loader keep that bale CLOSE to the ground when moving! As close to the ground as you can. I leaned over last winter, and the only thing that kept me from going all the way was the bucket hitting the ground. Get wheel weights in back, at least two on each side, and/or fluid iin the rears.

Front wheel weighs are 43 pounds each. Not too easy to find though, as tractors were not equipped with the front wheel weights as commonly as were the rear weights. Two weight (total of 4 weights) on each front wheel would add 170 lbs. By putting solution in the front tires, you can probably get another 200 lbs or so. Problem is that the M does not steer all that easy with out the weight on the front. With that extra weight, you are going to build up your arm and back muscles!! I would think that a 1500 lb bale on the 3 pt hitch would be no problem for the M provided the hydraulics are set up to handle the lift.

IHC made front wheel weights for the M.
Are you lifting the bale in the front or back ?

I'm lifting the bale in the back, with a three point, but I'm going to borrow a 2pt bale fork and see if that helps keep the front wheels on the ground. Are there weights for the channel)frontframe) or weights that can be attached to the front of the M? Thanks

Denny's Carb Shop has puller front weight brackets. That would probably be Your cheapest alternative. Hang a couple IH Suitcase weights up front.
