Two months after converting my M from 6 to 12 volts, it quit charging. I kept the original generator, coil, and added a ballast resistor, and a 12-volt voltage regulator.
It worked very well until last week when the ammeter began to show a constant discharge and the battery began to wear down. How do I test this with a voltmeter without removing the generator from the tractor? Thanks Bob seND

Hey Bob!Sounds like a bad regulatorClean the contact points in it real good and if that dont work change the thang out!Usualy I end up changing it out.Maybe you should go with what we call a heavy duty regulator. All that means to us is get one made for a 24 volt system.Im not exactly sure that is what it is for,but a good parts store,Not autozone or advanced, could tellyou.

Bob, Disconnect one wire at a time from the voltage
regulator and see if the discharge goes away. You
may have a stuck relay in the regulator. Clean the contacts with some alcohol and polish with a new dollar bill (or a 5er if that's what you've
got). Try it again and let us know how it works
out. Might have to replace the regulator if it keeps sticking.

Phil
