Ok, I'd like some responses here! I personally think the 1568 was the sharpest of all time, the M & H are the Classiest(wide frnt excluded), and the early Cub is the coolest(especially the one I saw with the flame paint Job!). I like the grill too much for the pre-letter series tractors.

Any one have an opinion???

Alabama, methinks the question you posit cannot really be answered; it's somewhat like asking "who is the most beautiful woman of all time?" What man could single out just ONE woman as being the most beautiful of all time?!! (there are just too many to be able to choose just one!). Added to this is the difference in personal tastes; in other words, what might be beautiful to one person would be ugly to someone else, etc., etc. I personally have always preferred the dual front wheel tricycle type tractors, but as a genuine tractor "nut", I love 'em all.

I think a late(51-52) M with all the right things, such as fenders positioned near the wheels with about 3 sets of weights on the rear wheels, a single set of front weights, belt pulley, remote hydraulic set up, collector precleaner intake, and a muffler as close to original style as possible. To me this represents a tractor that looks brawny and able to do the job, well styled, with lines to suggest the ultimate in functional design, but make no mistake, pretty as it is, it is still a powerful machine, built to work! Farmall letter series tractors were really well designed-style wise and mechanically for their time. And honestly, so were some of the other brands too. Just compare the looks, the refined controls, the handling, the multiple speed ranges, and all the accessories that came with these tractors compared to the previous models.

Hey Alabama,

It will all depend on who is doing the looking. I'm kinda partial to my Cubs, but this picture of 'Mike' must look impressive to a woodchuck.

Hmmm . . . in no particular order: Super 70s, 806(tough!!), Farmall 400(one of my all-time favorites with its clean lines), xx88 series, and my Farmall 100. :-)

No offense to the red people...I mean a SMTA is about as nice a looking tractor as you'll find, a 300U is very sharp, and a 350 narrow front row crop is very nice too, I love red ones so don't jump all over me, but the sharpest looking in my opinion is a toss up between a late model JD B, and a 5020. My vote for the sharpest looking tractors of all time; the Farmall letter series, particularly the supers. Raymond Lowey did a good job.

The Farmall and International 1206 get my vote. I really like looking at a sharp 1206 with the white wheels, fenders and casting around the grille. With duals and front suitcase weights these tractors are incredibly sharp. Realy like looking at 1206's that have been excellently restored or excellent original condition tractors. I had one of these in the early to mid 70's and wish I still had it.

The 1256/1456 get my vote as best tractor of all time. The 1206 is a very close 2nd, didn't quite have the same hp.

For me its the International 400 or 450 (not Farmall). Wide front, a real instrument panel, great looking grille, nicely rounded. They took the good looks of the SM and improved them. Now thats what a real tractor looks like.

For IH, it would have to be a nice Farmall Super H. The sleek lines, the shiny paint with hardener, and oh that white decal. Honestly, John Deere tractors don't have as nice styling. For Allis, I like the D17 and 190XT. If you want to go a little newer, I like the International 6388. To me they looked a little better than like the 3588.

Sharpe looking? The 450 with it white trim broke the long line of all solid Red and at the time set it apart.. no doubt about it when other farmers spotted the white trim. They knew you had the newest one around. (I also liked its extra power) Later,I felt the 560 had too long of a hood and a bit too square shaped to see around.(but we had one anyway) ralph

I have to agree that the M with wide front doesn't look as classy, especially the ones with the tie rods in front.

I would have to say that my favorite is the 560 diesel. All of the 60 series with the ladder bar grills look as classy as a 57 chevy to me. Also some of the best built IH tractors, along with 806 and 1206.

What will our children do when it comes time to restore a 8950 CIH or a 8000 series JD? They will have to injection-mold their own plastic hoods, and take a trip overseas to get parts for their foreign made engines and drive trains. Sad.

I still think the WR-9 and variations of (D, Super) are probably the sharpest looking. The big ricefield tires and fenders set it apart from the other 9's. Second would be the M. I agree that a wide front axle does not look right on a M or H, imho.

that h looks good, i noticed the muffler was correct for that series also. i also noticed it was "sittin in clover" (we call it dutch clover).if you have 150 yrs.of international harvester, look at page 359, left middle, the father on a 450 farmall, the son on a 450 pedal tractor. at that time, if you said "tractor",even to a school kid in new york city, that kid would point to a picture of a farmall "m"narrow front. the farmall m was the standard by which all other tractors were judged, all across america and some parts of the rest of the world. international harvester co.not only represented agricultural america but, america itself in post war years of this country. i like the odd or unusual tractor myself and appreciate the value of those rare tractors, and i know some collectors grew up around the standard version (low squat looking tractors with a wide front end), but i prefer the common narrow front with it's thorobred look, to me the american standard. the 450 farmall was at the peak(looks wise)of the m series.

The M in all it's variants is my favorite. I think the later series tractors started losing some curb appeal because of the wheels. The stamped front wheels lack the contrasting colors. The old red/silver/black rubber fronts are more attractive. Same with the later solid rear wheels look to much like the green variety.
