I have a 49 farmall h, and the hood has a latch missing. Where can I get one. Will a bone yard sell me one, or will I have to by a whole hood. My hood is perfect accept for that. Any help would be nice. Thanks in advance.

I had two missing from mine when I got it. The third wasn't any better. Only one was any good. I used that as a pattern and made the other three. Brackets and all. Brazed them onto the hood. Had to buy the springs.

The hood latches on the A,SA,B,C,SC,100,130,140, 200, and 230 are all different. The only latches that will work are the ones on H,4,M, and 6 series. Possibly the W9 series too. But the latches off these are interchangable anywhere on the hood.

Check and see if the ones for your H are the same as the ones off my Super C; I've got two or three extras sitting in a coffee can right now. They are NOT interchangeable among themselves, i.e. right/rear, right/front, and so forth. It's raining now, but I'll check in the morning and see what I've got for sure. If they work, you can have them for S&H from north east Missouri. RedTed/MO.

I am not familiar with the "H" hood attachments, is it like the "j" hooks on the A,s, 100's, etc. If so, I have several and will let you have one if you're willing to pay the shipping. Might be a little rusty and need cleaning. Just a comment, I think those of us who have a few of the old extra parts ought to be willing to help another fellow out. These parts salvage yards are tearing us a new one, because they know we can't get them from just anywhere. Most of us who fool with these old tractors always have extra parts that we could sell or trade for reasonable prices, and I did say reasonable. As one of the other fellows says, just my .02 cents worth.

easiest way would be to make one you have the pattern on the otherside easier than running around
