This might be a dumb question but not knowing the PTO HP of a Super C I have to ask. I have a 72" Ransomes front mount mower with a 28 hp Continental engine and 2 years ago the crank broke and cracked the block, cranks are $7oo and the block is shot, Continental claims the engine is obsolete, we already have $14oo in the Hyd. pump\drive and don't really want to spend more on a poor design so rather than scrap a rebuilt 3 blade deck I was wondering if the SC would handle the mower if I made up a mount and drive shaft\belt set up.
I have a bunch of open yard I could use the high sitting SC to mow and it would be faster I think in first with the SC doing the open area then 40" wheel horse for all the yard which takes 5 to 6 hours now, think it will work??? FYI the mower would be mid mount.

I have a Super c with a 72" woods belly mower and it works great. I mow in second gear most of the time, unless its tall grass or I am on a hill.

Thanks for the replies, now does anyone have a picture or know of a web site that shows how the mowers are mounted so I have some idea of how to mount it.

Your Super C will handle the 6 ft finishing mower with no problem. Don't know how you plan to set up the belt system, but better to run if off the belt pulley if you can rather than the PTO. The belt pulley shaft turns around 1500 rpm at high idle compared to 540 for the PTO, so you can use a much smaller sheave. You should be able to mow in 2nd gear with no problem unless you let the grass get real high.

I have a C with a 3 point hitch and a 72" finish mower on it and it does very well. If I let the grass get too long, I have to mow in first, but works fine in second. I mow 3 acres and was mowing it with a lawn tractor with 46" deck and it took about 6 hours and bounce, bounce, bounce!! After I put the finish mower on the C, I can mow it in about 3 hours and no more bounce.

I had a Woods 60" belly mower mounted on a C Farmall that I used for finish mowing. It would mow 3-4" high grass in 2nd and taller stuff in low. I think your Super C would handle a 72" mower if you don"t let the grass get too tall.
