I seem to have a problem sometimes with my clutch sticking. currently i have the cover off the connection between the clutch housing and transmision so i can watch for universal joint to stop turning, sometimes it does and other times i use a big stick to get it to stop spinning so i can shift gears. i dont like to jam the gears as i just rebiult the transmission with replacment gears. Any Ideas?

Check the clutch disk to be sure there is not excess dust built up in the groves in the disk . if the groves are full , it can create a vacuum against the flywheel and keep the disk from releasing right away.

When you step on the clutch, and the shaft keeps spinning there is two things that might be happening. Either the clutch is turning it or the transmission is turning it. Assuming it is the clutch it is either out of adjustment or something is hanging up that is causing the friction, to in turn cause the shaft to spin.

My clutch-to-trans coupling would also spin too long after dis-engaging the clutch on my F30. It did stop, eventually. I found out that the transmission oil was way too low. After bringing it up to level, the oil would stop the spinning.
