I am rebuilding a 574 D239 motor with new sleeves and pistons. Is there any details I need
to follow for installation? The Kit is a Clevite

Any measurements of fine details?

Thanks

Check the piston top clearance against the originals. See the following posts regarding low compression. Good Luck, Ray
Search in Farmall board for "D239 white smoke"

If you're doing an in-place overhaul, get a dial caliper and check your crankshaft journel sizes to verify that it is worth putting together without grinding the crank. You can replace the main inserts while the crank is in place. They usually just come in std sizes, where the rods you can often get in a .002 for slightly worn shafts. I'm assuming you'll do the rods while they're out anyways. Otherwise the end gap of the rings needs to be checked. Put them in one at a time in the top of the cylinder leveling them with the piston and check with a feeler gauge. File the ends down and re-check if too tight. Take the rods to a machine shop with a new piston pin and let them install the new rod bushings and size them to fit the pins. If you're not having the valves done, at leaste clean all the carbon out and look for damage or thin valves that might be trouble later. Clean out any sludge that you can get to in the block and head. Make sure you have no plugged oil drain returns. Then remember to replace the oil after the first couple hours.
Random ramble mode off ;)
Hope it helps,
