F-14 accessory questions

I am looking at a particular F-14 thats for sale and have a few questions:
1) This one has a large (10" dia. +/-), single headlight. Is this common? Should there be two? Rare? Available as original equipment or only available aftermarket (looks vintage)?
2) Has electric start. Again, available as original equipment or probably aftermarket?
3) Has cast spoke rear wheels. Common? Rare? Potential problems or anything to check there prior to purchase?
4) Any typical problems to look for on this particular model?

Thanks for your help. If purchased, I will strive to make the Farmall community proud of my meticulous restoration.

I've seen a couple of late model F14's with what looked like factory starters. The late models were built for starters. Concerning the wheels you may want to see if they have calcium in them. If so the wheels could be rotted. Also look at the tire size. 36 and 38 inch tires are easy to get. 40 and 42 inch tires are avialable but very expensive. Most parts are readily available also. I have a F14 and I love it.

All of my replies are based on reading and lookin' at coffee table picture books, so don't take them as gospel.

1. A single large lamp with wiring that dangles in the breeze was available as an accessory. Not sure if it was IHC or aftermarket. Believe it was coupled with a generator/battery system.

2. Electric start was available as a factory upgrade. Fairly rare if it is truly a factory unit and not "farmer engineered". You should be able to tell by looking at the bellhousing and starter motor mounting system.

3. Not quite sure what you mean by "cast spoke", but if it's the "star-burst" design, with "spokes" about 8 inches wide at the outer rim, that's the standard 40" cast center for an F14, and is fairly common.

4. No problems unique to the F14 that I'm aware of, just the usual stuff, cracked block or cylinder head from forgetting to drain the water, rotted manifolds, dead mags, etc. Also look at the lower radiator mounting points, it didn't take much of a bump to crack the castings.

Sounds like a great example of an F14. Looking forward to pictures!
