Does anybody have experience with Dry Cell type batteries for an H? I would appreciate any comments PRO or CON regarding use of these batteries. I think they might be a little cleaner in the long run and possibly easier to maintain. What type fits the H battery

I used one of the Optima dry cells in an H that I restored several years ago.. These batteries are superior to the wet cells in every way.. The amount of cranking amps is greater, and they are barely affected by cold weather, and will last a LONG time without charging. If you are going to be using the tractor, I would get one.. The only problem you will find, is that there are two little square tabs on the sides that will have to be ground down so that the battery will fit in the H battery box.. I will be making the investment in two of the batteries in the next few months, that way my MV and Super C start easier...

justin, is that a 6 or 12 volt package?
How do they compare in price to a conventional lead/acid?

The pic is of the 6 volt.. it comes in a 850CCA starting, or a 750CCA deep cycle.. Normal cranking amps is rated at 1,100.... They are not cheap.. They generally run in the $110-135 range, but the last one I bought only cost me the dealer cost, since it was a special order that was not picked up.. After owning that one, I don't think I will use anything else...

That's a new one to me. I'm not aware of dry cells being used for that type of application.
