I am planning on a camshaft replacement this summer in my Super M. I rebuilt it and I raised the compression to around 9 to 1 and used the larger bore sleeves to raise the cubes to 281 ci. Now the camshaft in it is fine. But I wouldn't mind putting one in for a little more HP. Maybe one from a 450? Can you advise me on what would be a good choice? And who besides Denny's would be a good supplier?
Any input would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Brian

I belive you can get a cam from Crower Cams in Chula Vista, CA. They do grind cams for some of the pullers and I've used their cams for for my race cars over the last 25 yrs. I fully trust their opinions on what specs. I need.
The cam may be pricey but will do what you want it to do.

Thanks guys. I thought the 450 cam would be a slight boost from what I remember. I really don't want to spend the money on an after market cam right now. Just want a little more pull :)

35 years ago when you got a Firecrater kit from IH they had suggestions on how to improve the performance of your M when you installed their kit. One of them was to install a 450 camshaft. I forget what the HP increase was. Another suggestion would replace the carb ventura with one from a 560 (number 29) and inlarge the fuel jet.

I wouldn't say that I'm in 'The Know', but I am in the process of building the same type of setup. Several recommendations from people on the board(Both the Farmall & Tractor Pulling sites) have steered me to the '450' LH Thread gasoline cam. I picked one up for $100 & have to decide whether to send it out for a light regrind or install it straight-up, with resurfaced lifters....Good luck
