Super MTA Question

I have a Super MTA Serial number 60278, it is drilled and threaded for 3/8-16 bolts for mounting the fenders on the axle housings. Any other M, MTA, 400 or 450s that I am familiar with are drilled and threaded for 1/2-13 bolts. Has anyone else ran into this? Does anyone have or know of a Super MTA with a lower serial number?

I have a SMTA that I'm in the process of restoring and it's serial number is 61125. The fender mounting holes in the axle housings are 1/2 X 13. Is it possible that somebody had broken off bolts and they drilled and tapped them out to 3/8 only. How close have you inspected the holes? It's maybe possible that they never were drill any bigger when the tractor was built. I have 7 Farmall rowcrop tractors and they all have 1/2 X 13 fender mounting holes including my three 1939 M & H's. Keep us posted as to what you find.

My SMTA serial # is 68233. I'm not sure what the holes in the axle are, but I can check this weekend. Shoot me an email if you want to know.
