IH Disc (first model of wheel disc)

I have an IH disc (the first model of IH disc made) a model 35. I wanted to paint it and wondered if anybody would be willing to send some pictures of a restored disc like this to my e-mail address, sandknob@hotmail.com . Also what year was these discs made in we use it with an Allis Chalmers D17 and will be using it with a WD. Also what is one worth in fair shape (all rust)

Adam,

IH Number 9 disk was available with wheels in my 1935 catalog, and probably earlier. The No. 9 was a tandam disk. The Number 24B was the first IH offset disk with hydraulic controled wheels as far as I know.

Your Number 35 should be mostly red with the spools painted blue when new. I don't have a picture of it so I am not sure about the details but I think the wheels and standards were red also.

Adam,

I have not been able to find anything definite on the years made but I know the No. 24B came out at the end of the war in the 40's and I believe the Number 35 you have came out around 1950 or so. It was replaced by the No. 37 about 55-57 or so. All of these dates are memory guesses but should be right within two or three years. Hope this helps.

With the older implements, 1924-1955 or so, the IH archives have paint committee decisions, that give the general instructions on how a particular implement was supposed to be painted. They'll be going online soon.
