Don't know what is is today about the A, but I've got one... A huge farm operation nearby has no need for the A parked along a fence row. Well every day I have to look at it on my way to work, and it needs to be moved, maybe to my place. Checked it out today and find that it has been idle outside for at least 2 years. Can't shift into any gears for some reason, or move it in what seems to be neutral. No obvious oil pools below, sheet metal restorable, tires fair. Question..
should I make an offer not knowing if it's frozen? And at what price?

(another example of the iron attracting other iron phenomenon)

Could check for a frozen engine by having someone step on the clutch and seeing if you can turn the engine by pulling on the fan and fan belt. You may have to remove the plugs to do this, but I have done this on a small block chevy with plugs still in it to get past a chipped tooth in the flywheel to get the starter to engage

COuld be that someone got curious and took off the trans cover, moved the gears around and put the cover back on without having the shifter forks lined up right. In other words, it's in two gears at one time. I agree with previous post, open the transmission and get it in neutral, then try moving it.

My Farmall A had the similiar shifting problem, I took the cover off and the sliding gears were stuck on the shaft I oiled them and tapped them back and forth and it works fine. Not knowing how the engine is and why it was parked it might not be worth a whole lot. Is the drawbar on it, carburator, mag, original seat. How are the rims? Does it turn over? Was the exhaust covered when it was parked?
Was the block drained when it was parked? Most I have seen crack right behind the carburator. Just some things to check for.

Salvage price on A's here is from $500.00 to $750.00 if the block's are good.
