I have both an H and M. They make a noticable clicking noise when in forward. It is more noticable in high gear when engine is not as loud. Also very noticable when towed in neut

Bruce, are your bull cages intact? I made the mistake of trying to pull one out not knowing it wrapped around the bull gear. Of course it went POW and I had the ball bearing come out in pieces. I had a ticking sound for awhile after that because of the broken cage rubbing against a gear.

Red's likely on the right trail, Bruce. Try jacking up one rear wheel and turning it slowly with the engine OFF and transmission in NEUTRAL. This may let you determine which side of the tractor has the problem. It's also possible to get some strange noises out of a brake.
If you have to replace those big carrier bearings for the axle on an M that's working hard, you can use 560 bearings which are considerably more durable. I don't know if there is a comparable swap for an H using 460 stuff.
